Meet Me In The Alley

This is a story about two boys, Rob and Nicky and the importance of close friendship.
Both boys come from humble backgrounds, but with widely different circumstances.
Rob’s family is tight knit. Mealtimes together are important.
Nicky eats alone. His mother works late shifts. He is a kind of lost boy who suspects his mom no longer cares about him.
With lack of supervision, Nicky lives a freewheeling lifestyle.
Although he is streetwise and resourceful (he collects used car parts and scrap metal and sells it for pocket money) these qualities vanish when he steps inside his school.
The humiliation and physical punishment he experiences there prove to be an assault on his self-esteem, and he responds with defiance.
Beyond his family circle, Rob struggles to speak up for himself. His awkwardness and inability to properly express his thoughts and feelings frustrate him.
Then one day, the circus comes to town. It’s a momentous event in the boys’ lives and leads to important discoveries about themselves and about the cruelty behind the glitter and glamour.
